c.1885. discovered on the walls of the Billiard Room at Stokesay Court, Shropshire — the magnificent Victorian century mansion where "Atonement" was filmed — this wallcovering reflects the nineteenth century fascination with chinoiserie. Although undoubtedly Chinese in its inspiration, Amicia's foliage looks like an English hedgerow, as engraved wildflowers and snarled greenery tangle together forming a thicket straight from Sleeping Beauty.
