Acorn
c.1800. This was an early nineteenth century French figured silk in its original incarnation and is now a luxurious pocketed weave, lending itself to upholstery. Beautifully simple and bucolic, there is some debate as to whether the fruit depicted is an acorn or a strawberry. In shining wine red and gold silk woven onto flaxen cotton, this is a delightful small-scale design.
