c.1894 attributed to Charles Voysey, a leading figure of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, this design has been drawn from a fragment found in an elegant town house in Camberwell, South London. The pattern itself is a fine example of the tulip detail, which was highly popular in the late nineteenth century. Luscious petals curl around each other with great scrolling leaves against a backdrop of dainty flowers and minute sprigs of leaves.
