c.1868 From the Watts Chancery Collection of rich decorative brocades, damasks and tapestries that reflect the influence of both European and Eastern designs of earlier centuries, this Victorian Gothic fabric is distinctive and dramatic. Designed by F.J.Flanagan, the bold geometric design was inspired from a fifteenth century portrait of Richard II and features a dense weft effect after the William Morris school, creating a strong visual statement enhanced by vivid colours. Brilliant for upholstery, it flourishes in royal purple and gold.
