c.1895. A Byzantine design by origin, this ornate floral tapestry was re-drawn by leading Gothic Revival architect, designer and founder of Watts G. F. Bodley in 1895 for an embroidered cope for Father Benson, founder of the Cowley Fathers. The original cope is on permanent display in the Elizabeth Hoare Collection of Embroidery at Liverpool Cathedral.
