Mansfield

c.1780. This very popular late eighteenth century pure silk damask is exquisitely beautiful. Originally a lampas, the Chinoiserie flowers are created in incredible detail as the weave changes form and direction to embrace the curves in every petal and leaf.  Very unusual, the Mansfield is delicate and elegant in soft, pastel colours. Dusky flowers embellish a sophisticated silk ground.
