Bruges
c.1790. Taken from an altar frontal from Castle Howard this crisp woven silk chenille design is perfect for upholstery. Deep chenille leaves curl between budding flowers on a silk ground in which delicate ferns are just visible.
There may be variations to the cloth face due to the characteristics of the chenille.
