Taken from an eighteenth century Indo-Portuguese design, this tapestry is imbued with rich symbolism. Employing both ancient and medieval imagery, birds sit atop thistles, irises and grapevines which encircle an elaborately decorated urn. Here, lively greens, yolk yellow, deep lapis blue and cardinal red shine against an elegant cream ground.
