Our newly curated Indian Summer collection at Watts 1874 creates a design experience that takes you through the shifting hues of a late summer day. Our newest product, the Venus Vault transports you to a tranquil late summer morning, with a slight freshness that hints towards the change in seasons, yet with a blue sky that carries hope of summer heat. Our Ravenna wallpaper then echoes the heat of mid-day; you can almost smell the pungent blousy blooms from its swirling pink pattern, circulating the air on a gentle breeze. As the day floats by, the glow of the Minoti fabric transports the mind to the glow of an Indian summer’s early evenings. The golden hues of the Oakleaf are reminiscent of the deeper golden hues of the late evening’s sunset. Tybalt closes the story of an Indian Summer day, with its darker tones embodying the slightly chilly dusk and burnt tones of an approaching autumn.

C. 1880 the design, typical of the Queen Anne revival that Watts founder G.F. Bodley pioneered in the nineteenth-century, is drenched in history. This only emphasises its ability to capture one’s imagination and transport the mind beyond the physical parameters of an interior.

Our statement Oakleaf design, in Bihar Gold steeps a room in the warm golden glow of late summer evenings. It encapsulates a key driver behind most interior design; an incentive to capture and immortalise moments of nostalgia and joy. The glinting gold, backed against a calming cream, is reminiscent of dappled sunlight dancing through verdure. The depth of the design’s gold leaves carries this warmth all through the winter. The term Oakleaf has long been associated with these autumnal hues, since oak trees often show the first shift from summer to autumn when their leaves turn bronze.

The Tybalt Old Gold offers a beautiful golden glimmer. Named after the feisty protagonist in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the design’s bold tones capture Tybalt’s impassioned character. The design’s darker tones of gold also mirror the transformation that occurs at the end of summer; leaves begin to crisp up and everything that was once green takes on a deeper, more golden hue.
