Non Woven Printed Wallpaper: Hanging Instructions

Printed on Paper: this is a paste the wall product

Recommended paste for lining: Beeline with green top (wheat based prepared tub paste). Lining paper is to be hung on a suitable substrate. New plaster must be sealed

Recommended Paste for the Non Woven paper: use a medium paste, Beeline paste (with a red top). or an equivalent good quality, solvent free, fungicide protected, light grade adhesive should be used.

  • Walls must be sound, dry, clean and free from grease or any other contaminant that might affect the adhesive or penetrate the wall covering.  All old wallpaper, backing and lining paper must be removed and any holes or cracks filled.
  • Powdery, flaky and/or absorbent surfaces must be scraped back and painted with a good quality primer sealer, following the manufacturer’s instructions, and allowed to dry thoroughly.
  • Previously painted surfaces must be washed down, sanded with glass paper to create a key, and then painted with a good quality primer sealer as above.
  • Metallic effects can be damaged if high levels of alkaline are already present in the walls. Preparing the walls with an alkaline resistant primer should prevent any damage of this type
  • Dark coloured wallcoverings may need their edges coloured with a crayon of a similar tone to avoid white edges showing.
  • Match the pattern at eye level and use a spirit level and faint pencil line to ensure the wallpaper is vertical.

  • Apply paste evenly TO THE WALL
  • Paste should be evenly applied to the wall to hang 1 length at a time, to an area slightly wider than the width of the roll.
  • Butt joins and use a decorator’s brush to smooth down the wallcovering, working from the centre to the edges to express air bubbles.
  • Avoid squeezing paste out of the joins and ensure paste does not get onto the brush or roller.
  • No paste should be allowed to come into contact with the surface and hands should be kept clean and dry whilst handling the wallcovering.
