Bruges Chimay

c.1790. Taken from an altar frontal from Castle Howard, the crisp design of this woven silk wool mix is perfect for upholstery. Bruges Chimay's design is inverted so that diagonally woven leaves curl s between budding flowers on a silken ground in which delicate fern leaves are just visible.
