Fantasy of Watts: A Dialogue Between Craftsmanship and Imagination
In a dreamscape oscillating between medieval mythology and contemporary enchantment, fashion photographer Wanda Martin conjures a world suspended between ancient fairytale and modern style. Commissioned by Commons & Sense magazine to capture the creations of a leading Italian fashion house, Wanda Martin sought a setting imbued with rêverie, texture, and emotion; Watts’ fabrics proved a treasure chest.

The story of their creative encounter began during Paris Déco Off - an unmissable event celebrating creativity and majestic decor. A collaboration between craftsmanship and imagination soon converged. The result: a visual symphony of damasks and velvets, where centuries-old artistry becomes the canvas for contemporary vision.
The Watts fabrics - opulent damasks, blood-red velvets, and scenic weaves depicting enchanted forests, noble steeds, and heraldic motifs - are transformed through Wanda Martin’s lens into the architecture of a dream. Each textile breathes with movement, depth, and light, giving the fabrics an active role in Wanda Martin’s visual narrative.

At the heart of the story stands a magnetising heroine; ethereal yet fierce, her cascading hair and ivory wings evoking the duality of angel and warrior. Caught between strength and fragility, she drifts through this woven world as if stepping from a Pre-Raphaelite painting, intertwining beauty, melancholy, and power.
Guided by her instinct for atmosphere and emotion, Wanda Martin’s interplay of light and history transform Watts’ designs into living poetry.
In Fantasy of Watts, our legendary collections transcend time, becoming both set and subject in a narrative that celebrates imagination itself. It forms a masterful alliance between haute couture and decorative art. A triumph of artistry, fantasy, and wonder, it reaffirms Watts’ timeless creativity.
