c.1848 This wonderful 19th design originates from a set of vestments designed by Augustus Pugin (who also designed the interior of Westminster Palace) for his own church, St Augustine?s Abbey in Ramsgate. Colours shine through interlocking ogee as if they were medieval panes of stained glass. Fleur de lys and quatrefoil are woven in sunlit cream against bronze, purple and black silk.
