Pemberley

c.1810 This early 19th century silk tapestry design has an acanthus leaf motif that was popular in fabrics of this period. The plump leaves bloom in rich colours from the satiny ground, appearing almost edible. A brocatelle rather than a damask, the ground is created by the weft, so that the acanthus is raised delightfully in pale silvery brown against Pompeii pink. Perfect for drapery and upholstery.
