Malvern Piccadilly

Malvern Piccadilly

c.1889 Originally a 15th century Flemish textile pattern, this dramatic design was redrawn by G. F. Bodley, a founder of Watts and a pioneering architect of the Queen Anne revival, in 1889.  A very large floral with stark contrast, stylized thistle flowers lace magnificently upwards in gold, silver and royal red silk. The head of the thistle is woven in particularly wonderful detail in tiny acorn shaped stitches.
