c.1911 This classic brocade was designed by Sir Ninian Comper for the viceregal throne at the Delhi Durbar of 1913. A large, figured damask, it was used for altar frontals and has a theatre that the congregation would appreciate all the way down the nave. Perfect for upholstering antique chairs due to the burgeoning geometric design, the stylized florals are accentuated in crimson silk and wheat-field cream cotton.
