c.1890 Originally woven by hand, Dore Lily would have been created of woollen ‘stuff’ when it was conceived in the late 1890s. Re-created from a 1920s fragment in 2002, Dore Lily is a fabric steeped in tradition, with a settled place in the Watts archive. In pearly white and amethyst, arabesque blooms, clusters of berries and winding tendrils form a tangled thicket across the surface of this fabric, almost obscuring a plush, silken chartreuse ground. Teeming with untamed life, this colourway captures the quintessence of spring.
