c.1850 This fiery fabric was created by Augustus Pugin (who also notably designed the furnishings for the interior of Westminster Palace) as a wallpaper for the library ceiling of Great Tew Manor, Oxford, where it shone in blue and gold. It is a transitional design that translates perfectly to contemporary interiors, where it works fantastically for upholstery. On a silken bed of richest yolk yellow, Medieval solar lances spring forth in soft chenille and the centre for each emblem is textured by the herringbone weave of the mustard silk.
