Cardaillac

Recalling the 17th century Dutch tradition in Still Life painting, stately bouquets,
each a unqiue arrangement of carnations, lilies, roses and arums, are arranged in vases upon a striking,
charcoal ground. Imbued with elegance and celebration, Cardaillac focuses on the orginal
tapestry's distinctive floral backdrop.

Provenance

An Aubusson tapestry, 1624
Permanent collection of the museum of the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie Aubusson, France.

Uniting two aristocratic family crests, the original tapestry was woven to commemorate the marriage of
Henri-Victor de Cardaillac and Élisabeth de Pluvinel in 1624.
