  • Silver Old Gold
c.1890 A 15th century floral design, this was adapted for use as bed drapes for G. F. Bodley’s refurbishment of Powys Castle, Wales, which the designer and co-founder of Watts worked on it until his death in 1907. The original was commissioned be re-worked by an artist as a painting and then printed on to silk over the Holbein design. Highly unusual, the peach, red, blue and green brushstrokes of the foliage are in glorious contrast to the geometric design glimpsed in the silver and gold shadows of the pure silk.
