Bruges Baird

c.1790 Taken from an altar frontal from Castle Howard (where Brideshead Revisited was filmed), this was a pearl pink damask with contrasting embroidered decorative leaf detail and has been transormed into a starkly defined woven silk chenille that is perfect for upholstery. In the Bruges Baird the design is inverted so that delineated golden leaves curl like rolling waves between budding flowers on a stony blue teal chenille ground.
