Bellini Classic

Bellini c.1850 The origin of this design has been traced to a hanging depicted in Early Flemish painter Roger van der Weyden’s “Madonna And Saints” (c.1450). It was adapted by Augustus Pugin as a wallpaper during his collaboration with John Gregory Crace (whom he had also worked with for the Houses of Parliament) on the decoration of the great Victorian Abney Hall in Cheshire in the 1850s.
