c.1800 This was an early 19th century French figured silk in its original incarnation and is now a luxurious pocketed weave, lending itself to upholstery. Beautifully simple and bucolic, there is some debate as to whether the fruit depicted is an acorn or a strawberry. In dark, brassy olive and gold silk woven onto flaxen cotton, this is a delightful small-scale design.
